In the Gello-Pistoia plant, it is immediately apparent how much the technology supports manual work, to always carry out the various processing phases with maximum precision. Furthermore, numerical control machines limit human error.

Following the new marketing directions undertaken, Mantellassi 1926 included in the staff the figure of the person responsible for floors and decorations in wood, stone, steel and brass.

The various proposals, currently in the project, are divided as follows.

Progenie: puzzles to choose from woods, marbles, metals and leather, assembled on tiles of different sizes. The drawings are the most varied, with references to the extraordinary Florentine Renaissance masterpieces.

Marqueterie: inlay made with different essences, designed as a central decorative element.

Geometric inlay: executed with a single type of wood, to be chosen among the noblest as Oak, American Walnut, Oak, American Cherry, Teak, Ipe and many others. Workings such as heavy sandblasting and manual buffing enhance this type of surface.

Old wood floors: starting from time to time by the availability of ancient woods (including Teak, Walnut, Oak), restoration and assembly operations are carried out, according to a project that takes into account the characteristics of the material found. For example, floors with Oak recovered from old barrels were created, with the incredible color of the must.

The early years

Macario Mantellassi, great upholsterer, founded in 1926 in Quarrata, just outside Florence, a company of interior joinery and doors. The following year he made his first piece of furniture, a sofa bed combined with a bookcase, called "GIREVOLE".
His son Remo, after graduating in Architecture at the University of Florence, joins his father at work as a carpenter, along with his wife Elisa.

1930 / 1940

The modern movement - the 1930s

Mantellassi ventures into the modern style with his interpretation of Art Deco, including several pieces designed by Remo who, when his father dies, becomes the company's president. In this way he launched a complete line of bedrooms, starting with designs by designers and furnishings selected by well-known modernists of 1932, thus collaborating in the debut of the modern movement on the Italian market. Then comes the Ottoman collection, the first of its kind in Italy. In 1932 the design is mainly Bauhaus, produced by master upholsterers and cabinet makers identified in the Tuscan district. Two years later Mantellassi introduced a rationalist furnishing line.

1940 / 1950

The era of war

In 1941, over 500 objects collected by Mantellassi, are formally organized and displayed in Tuscany. Mantellassi introduces the steel collection, the first real modern collection produced in the Tuscan region. In 1948, immediately after the Second World War, the company popularized neoclassical design with the introduction of its "Palladio" collection, based on the careful and exhaustive study of countless original works in museums. The well-known designer, Giuseppe Terragni, joined forces with Mantellassi in 1951, with the first Scandinavian collection for the Italian market. In 1959, Carlo Mantellassi joined the company, beginning to produce a simpler and more price-conscious collection, structuring the company into three divisions: Wood wholesale, retail and Furnishing Industry.

1960 / 1970

An era of expansion

Carlo Mantellassi assumes the presidency of the company in 1960, on the death of his father. Identify new market niches and expand the range with new collections. Mantellassi opens a production unit for expanded polyurethane in Quarrata, together with some friends and competitors, in a joint effort to create a product quality excellence. The new proposals in the 60s and 70s include the Shabby chic and Barocca collections, and Mantellassi stands out in particular also due to the introduction in 1969 of the post-modern collection.

80s, 90s, 2000s

The fourth generation

In 1980, the interior design Tiziano Lera designed a collection of 12 armchairs, simply known as "parrots", and living room items in the style of Avant Garde. The following year, Nicola, son of Carlo Mantellassi, joined the company and launched the "Antiqua" collection: one of the most revolutionary dining tables, floor lamps and chairs never produced before, pieces that reproduce originals found in famous castles . The strong consensus gained from this collection, produced in wood and bronze, reaffirms the importance of Mantellassi's work with world-renowned international designers, such as Antonio Arena. At the end of the 1980s, Roberta, Nicola's wife, made her debut as director of the research and development department. A significant support that starts with the launch of the "Romantica" collection: an idea of ​​continental furnishing with cues from the archives of the most famous design studios in the world. In 1996 “Patina” was reintroduced, a memorable Mantellassi collection, with a vintage look, more livable and an excellent quality / price ratio. In the same year, the opening of the Shop in Shop in Almaty, Kazakhstan, represents a milestone in the Mantellassi distribution strategy. "Etnica" is born, a collection that includes furniture in oriental, Arabic and African style.

2000 / 2015

Design Glamor, global openings

During this decade, Mantellassi debuted with a series of collections thanks to a series of famous designers, such as Samuele Mazza, Alessio Mazza, Manzoni and Tapinassi, Gianfranco Gualtierotti, Andrea Perra , Martina Collina. In 2005, Mantellassi launched the "DecoGlam" collection inspired by the classic European decò style, with a touch of Glamor; in 2008/2009 this collection is extended up to 300 pieces, entering the field of Total Look. During the same period, the company supplies the furnishings to various boutiques, hotels and restaurants, working on unique and celebrated pieces in the market. This last era has seen a succession of international showroom openings; Moscow and three cities in China, with the introduction of the latest masterpiece, the "Flair" collection.
