COSMOPOLITAN. The new distinctive name from Mantellassi 1926

logo90_NEROHaving just celebrated its 90 years in business, Mantellassi 1926 continues on its path of virtuously combining the manufacturing excellence of Tuscan master craftsmanship and an all round openness to the world. This vocation is fully expressed in the name itself of the new collection, COSMOPOLITAN, to be previewed at the International Furniture Show, Milan 2016.

 

The quest which Mantellassi 1926 wishes to express in its new ‘journey’ is organised, in scrupulous and contrasting form, with a sophisticated combination of materials, a provocative rethinking of lines, the bold details of the finishings, where decoration is not only a question of prestige but also function. A distinctive name that expresses an ‘intense desire to give vent to emotions’ in a dimension of unique pieces within which they can connect with each other in a house understood as a place of the soul.

The COSMOPOLITAN project of Mantellassi 1926 is the subject of study for students in the last year of Interior Design at the Liberal Fine Arts Academy of Florence and represents constructive cooperation between the academy and industry. It is also further demonstration of the deep interest in social matters that the Tuscan company has in the land.

 

COSMOPOLITAN, audacious vintage style in a spirit of Decor Glamour for furnishings designed for living and dining. While it is true that cross-fertilisation or diffusion determine the prevailing trends of the ‘new’, the contrast desired by Mantellassi 1926 between upholstery and the opaque complements intentionally almost ‘worn’ and furniture with sparkling surfaces inspired by the nineteen forties and fifties, applied in Decò Style and with fine veneers in the reinterpretation of the young designers of Mantellassi 1926, becomes physiological. Great attention is given to the craftsmanship and details, for example in the furniture that has the same external and internal finishings, with refined handcrafting that produces the highest quality.

The COSMOPOLITAN mood changes for night time with a rethinking of the grandmother’s bedroom, reinterpreted with old fashioned embroidery and suggestions of the natural materials and colours and non-colours of linen and wool.
